International Networks
The South Savo Food Cluster works to raise the international profile of the region’s food sector. Its representatives take part in international food sector events and actively engage in networks that foster collaboration and knowledge exchange.

S3 Food for Positive Health Impact
The S3 Food for Positive Health Impact partnership brings together European regions and their food, research, healthcare and innovation ecosystems to strengthen the role of food in promoting health and well-being. The partnership aims to increase knowledge about the relationship between food and health, translate this knowledge into innovation, and support the development and market introduction of new and improved food products and solutions that contribute to healthier lives.
The partnership addresses the entire food value chain, from food production and processing to food choices and consumption. Its priorities include healthier food products, food for different life stages and specific needs, food literacy and education, and a better understanding of how food and nutrition affect health. Through interregional collaboration, the partnership connects companies, research organisations, healthcare actors, public authorities and other stakeholders and creates opportunities for knowledge exchange, innovation and joint initiatives.
South Savo is one of the participating European regions in the partnership.
Through its involvement, the South Savo Food Cluster connects the region’s food ecosystem with European partners and expertise in food, health and nutrition and opens up opportunities for international collaboration, knowledge exchange and the development of new joint initiatives.
The partnership is part of the European S3 Thematic Smart Specialisation Platforms, which support interregional collaboration between regions sharing similar priorities in their Smart Specialisation Strategies. The European Commission’s four S3 Thematic Platforms cover Agri-Food, Energy, Industrial Modernisation and Sustainable Blue Economy. Read more.
